Bench + Back extension | OF2 series
OF2-05+17 is a two-station open-air gym device combining a sit-up bench with a back extension. Both stations are mounted on a common low post and work independently – on one side we work on the abdomen, on the other on the back.
This pairing is no coincidence. The abdominal muscles and the back extensors form an antagonistic muscle pair – together they stabilise the spine and are responsible for maintaining correct posture. Training both groups in one session is an approach recommended by most physiotherapists working with people who have spinal overload.
Flat benchallows classic sit-ups lying on your back with feet resting on the crossbar. Smoothly raising the torso – from the head, through the shoulders – activates the rectus abdominis, and adding a twist engages the oblique muscles. It's important that the movement is controlled, without jerking or excessive neck tension.
Back extensionworks in the reverse position – the user rests their hips on the bench facing down, locks their feet against the crossbar and performs slow torso lowering and raising with arms crossed on the chest. The exercise strengthens the erector spinae and the multifidus muscles – structures key to spinal stabilisation and preventing back pain.
