Materials and technical solutions used

A good piece of equipment starts with good materials. It is they that determine the durability of the construction, the safety of users and the maintenance costs over the following years of use.

At Starmax we use only materials proven in public spaces – from structural and stainless steel, through glued-laminated and robinia timber, to HDPE and HPL panels, steel-core ropes and EPDM granulates. Each of them was chosen with resistance to weather conditions, intensive use and the passage of time in mind.

Glued-laminated timber

Layer-glued pine timber with a 90 × 90 mm cross-section, of the highest class — knot-free and with straight grain. Pressure-impregnated, sanded and protected with wood stain.

Installed on steel anchors protecting the timber from direct contact with the ground.

Robinia timber

Robinia (black locust) is an exceptionally durable timber — naturally resistant to moisture, rot and pests, without the need for chemical impregnation. Thanks to its exceptional hardness and resistance to ground contact, it is ideal for playgrounds.

Stainless steel

Elements made of AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel, with a matt or polished finish, resistant to weather conditions. Found in elements of playgrounds, street workout, slides, fasteners and chains.

Mild steel

Welded constructions, made of tubes and sections, available in two finish variants:

- hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated with UV-resistant paints,

- shot-blasted construction, powder-coated with UV-resistant paints, with a QUALICOAT certificate and a QUALISTEELCOAT primer.

HDPE

Single-colour or three-layer polyethylene, resistant to moisture, frost and UV radiation. We use three-layer boards with a black core made of 100% recycled re-granulate to produce panels, roofs, seats and other playground components.

Anti-slip HDPE

Used for platforms in a graphite colour with a black core — the boards have a surface providing grip even in wet conditions. The material is resistant to UV radiation, mechanical damage and weather conditions.

HPL

A high-pressure laminate of polyurethane-acrylic resins forms highly rigid boards in various colours, resistant to chemical and biological agents, UV radiation and changeable weather conditions. We use it to produce roofs and other components.

Printed polycarbonate

We use polycarbonate to make transparent panels, portholes and decorative elements with UV printing. The material combines high resistance to impact and weather conditions with excellent transparency.

Anti-slip plywood

We make parkour walls from waterproof birch plywood with a cross-laminated structure, bonded with waterproof adhesive. The surface is covered with a hot-pressed phenolic film that provides anti-slip properties and high resistance to abrasion, mechanical damage and weather factors.

Polypropylene tunnels

Diameter 600 mm. They stand out with high resistance to impact, abrasion and changeable weather conditions. The smooth, light inner surface improves comfort of use, and the characteristic corrugated construction ensures high rigidity.

Ropes for playgrounds

Ropes with a diameter of 16 mm with a galvanised steel cable in a polypropylene or nylon braid. Resistant to UV radiation, abrasion and intensive use. Pleasant to the touch. We secure the rope ends with aluminium sleeves crimped on a hydraulic press, or we use replaceable plastic connectors.

Climbing stones

Colourful climbing stones made of a durable resin-based composite with mineral fillers. They provide a secure grip and high resistance to abrasion.

Slides

Slide chutes made of AISI 304 stainless steel, resistant to vandalism and external factors. Side guards made of HDPE or HPL boards, resistant to frost and UV radiation.

LLDPE slides

Straight and curved slides made of rotationally moulded LLDPE dyed throughout, providing high resistance to weather conditions and UV radiation.

Inox tube slides

Slides made of high-quality AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel, resistant to corrosion and weather conditions. The welded construction ensures high rigidity, durability and comfort of use under intensive operation. Chute diameter 780 mm, sanded surface.

PE tubes

Straight and curved tube chutes made of high-quality polyethylene (PE) by rotational moulding are characterised by high resistance to mechanical damage, UV radiation and weather conditions.

Anchors

In wooden playgrounds we use hot-dip galvanised or powder-coated steel anchors, which protect the timber from direct contact with the ground. They extend the service life of wooden structures.

Chains

Chains made of AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel, in sizes that prevent finger entrapment.

End caps

End caps made of durable PE or PP are used to close round and square steel sections. They protect the inside of the construction from the ingress of moisture and dirt.

Bolts

Bolts made of AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel. Galvanised bolts are protected with durable polyamide caps against contact with the external environment.

Moving parts

The elements used in the Outdoor Fitness series are fitted with a safe, user-inaccessible motion-braking system — durable and resistant to overload, weather conditions and vandalism, with a mechanical stop. The system is based on durable 2RS bearings, enclosed in a housing, which require no lubrication or maintenance. This ensures a long service life for the equipment and the highest safety.

Rubber buffers

Elements made of high-quality rubber are used as end-position limiters for moving parts in playgrounds and fitness equipment. They cushion impacts.
