Nursery and Preschool Playgrounds – Design and Installation by STARMAX
STARMAX designs, manufactures and supplies playground equipment for nurseries and preschools. We have our own design team and our own factory, so one company is responsible for the concept, the equipment and its quality. We deliver projects across the UK, with installation and servicing carried out by our local partners.
Children aged 0–6 learn through movement and play, so we choose equipment to suit their height, abilities and stage of development. Our equipment supports motor skills, balance, coordination and group play.
Nursery and preschool playground – equipment matched to children's ages
A two-year-old needs different equipment from a child who will start school next year. That is why we plan playgrounds for nurseries and preschools by age group (0–3 and 3–6) and choose equipment to suit the children's height and abilities. We also take into account the requirements of the client: budget, timescale and tender conditions.
We design the space to be inclusive, so that children with disabilities can use it too. This covers the surfacing, the layout of paths and selected items of equipment. Our equipment is certified to EN 1176 and our surfacing meets the requirements of EN 1177.

The price depends mainly on the size of the area, the number and type of items of equipment, the surfacing and any groundworks required.
Design and visualisation
Our team of designers prepares the projects. They produce:

concept layouts for the grounds of the nursery or preschool, covering the playground, planting, resting areas and access routes,

technical drawings and design documentation to support planning applications, where required,

3D visualisations that allow the nursery manager or headteacher and the local authority to assess the result before work begins.

Delivery and installation – from start to finish
We manufacture the equipment in our own factory and deliver it to site on a date agreed with the setting. We plan the work so that it does not disrupt daily routines, for example during a holiday closure. The scope of the project includes:

delivery to site,
-
installation of the equipment by our local installation partners in the UK,
-
safety surfacing to EN 1177: tiles, wet-pour EPDM or artificial grass,
-
groundworks, paths and landscaping,
-
as-built documentation needed for the handover inspection.
The project ends with a handover inspection. We provide as-built documentation and user instructions.
If the project is procured through a public tender, we help prepare the technical specification with the parameters of the equipment and surfacing, a cost estimate and a set of documents for the bid (certificates, data sheets and references).
Warranty, servicing and spare parts
Once the equipment is handed over, the setting is responsible for the safety of the children, which is why servicing is part of the agreement and not an optional extra. Servicing and repairs are carried out by our local service partners.
- Fault reporting: report a fault to us on +48 884 000 884 and we will respond within 2 working days. A defect that poses a safety risk is repaired, or the equipment is made safe, within 7 days, unless parts have to be manufactured.
- Spare parts for our equipment are available for at least 10 years.
- Warranty: 5 years on the load-bearing structure, 3 years on moving parts, ropes and bearings, and 3 years on surfacing.
- Vandalism: repairs after damage are charged according to a fixed price list.
- Instructions for daily visual checks for the caretaker or site manager, and training for a member of staff.
