STARMAX designs, manufactures and supplies playground equipment and equips sports areas in school grounds. We have our own design team and our own factory, so one company is responsible for the concept, the equipment and its quality. We deliver projects across the UK, with installation and servicing carried out by our local partners.
School playground – equipment matched to pupils' ages and your school's needs
A six-year-old needs different equipment from an older pupil, so we choose play sets to suit the age of the children, the number of users and the space available. We also take into account the requirements of the client: budget, timescale and tender conditions.
We design the space to be inclusive, so that children with disabilities can use it too. This covers the surfacing, the layout of paths and selected items of equipment. Our equipment is certified to EN 1176 and our surfacing meets the requirements of EN 1177.

Example school project – Gdańsk Zaspa, Poland
The playground at a school in Zaspa, Gdańsk, has two zones. For children aged 6 and over we installed play houses, slides and educational panels. The 10+ zone is a parkour set with street workout bars, which can also be used for PE lessons.

Free consultation and equipment selection
During the consultation we:
- assess the available space and the shape of the site,
- choose equipment to suit the age of the pupils and the number of users,
- match the solution to the budget of the school or local authority,
- present several options: ready-made sets, bespoke configurations and themed designs,
- prepare a preliminary cost estimate.
The price depends mainly on the size of the area, the number and type of items of equipment, the surfacing and any groundworks required.
Design and visualisation
Our team of designers prepares the projects. They produce:
- concept layouts for school grounds, covering the playground, sports area, planting and circulation routes,
- technical drawings and design documentation to support planning applications, where required,
- 3D visualisations that allow the headteacher, governors and the local authority to assess the result before work begins.

Delivery and installation – from start to finish
We manufacture the equipment in our own factory and deliver it to site on a date agreed with the school. Installation, safety surfacing, groundworks, paths and landscaping are carried out by our local installation partners in the UK. We plan the work so that it does not disrupt lessons, most often during school holidays.
The project ends with a handover inspection. We provide as-built documentation and user instructions.
If the project is procured through a public tender, we help prepare the technical specification with the parameters of the equipment and surfacing, a cost estimate and a set of documents for the bid (certificates, data sheets and references).
Warranty, servicing and spare parts
Once the equipment is handed over, the school is responsible for the safety of the children, which is why servicing is part of the agreement and not an optional extra. Servicing and repairs are carried out by our local service partners.
- Fault reporting: report a fault to us on +48 884 000 884 and we will respond within 2 working days. A defect that poses a safety risk is repaired, or the equipment is made safe, within 7 days, unless parts have to be manufactured.
- Spare parts for our equipment are available for at least 10 years.
- Warranty: 5 years on the load-bearing structure, 3 years on moving parts, ropes and bearings, and 3 years on surfacing.
- Vandalism: repairs after damage are charged according to a fixed price list.
- Instructions for daily visual checks for the caretaker or site manager, and training for a member of school staff.
