The playground in Rumia – a big challenge

The public tender covered the design and construction of the development of the site on Polna Street in Rumia.

Designing the playground

The playground design was carried out in our Starmax-1Move design studio and obtained a building permit.
Survey maps had to be prepared and the playground marked on them, together with the fencing and pathways.
Once the formalities were behind us, we began the construction stage.

Building the playground

We began building the playground in Rumia with the surveying set-out.
Then we carried out the earthworks: clearing the site, levelling the unevenness and excavating for the playground equipment.
As part of the project, pathways and panel fencing with gates had to be made.
At the same time, at our production plant in Bąkowo, the playground equipment was being manufactured.

The STARMAX zip line

The biggest challenge turned out to be the zip line, a popular cable descent – the ground on which we installed the equipment had a fairly steep gradient.
The sag of the cable and the relative heights of the starting and finishing stations had to be calculated precisely.
Everything worked out – the descent works perfectly, gives a lot of fun and is safe – the user glides on a seat low over a layer of loose sand.

Installing the playground

Our team of installers, led by Wojtek, completed the whole installation in two weeks.

The scope of work included:

1. A large play set with towers and slides
2. A three-station swing with a "bird’s-nest" seat
3. Spring rockers
4. A sandpit
5. A rope climbing pyramid
6. An EPDM climbing feature – hedgehog
7. A 25-metre-long zip line
8. Litter bins
9. Park benches

The playground surface

We install every type of safe surface at playgrounds. In this case the client chose a sand surface, which fits with the woodland character of the area.

The result exceeded the officials’ expectations

The playground on Polna Street in Rumia is an example of a comprehensively delivered investment – from design to full installation. Thanks to the commitment of the Starmax-1Move team and smooth cooperation between designers, surveyors and contractors, we managed to create a space that is safe, functional and full of joy for the youngest residents of Rumia.
The varied equipment, including the zip line, rope pyramid, sandpit and play sets, ensures the playground’s appeal for children of different ages. The whole is completed by solid fencing, small architecture and a safe surface.
It is further proof that thoughtful urban planning can combine quality, safety and childhood joy.
