The "Pirate Ship" P1173 playground – a school adventure in Banino

At the Primary School in Banino near Gdańsk, a themed playground in the form of a pirate ship was created, which became an absolute hit among pupils from the very first day. The Pirate Ship P1173 set, measuring 9.46 × 3.39 m, takes children from the school grounds straight onto the deck of a vessel full of adventure, imagination and movement.
As the school’s Head Teacher put it: "The children love playing on this ship and don’t want to get off it." The carers add that no one needs to be persuaded to be active – the fun starts by itself.

Play that draws you in (literally)

A pirate-ship playground works like a magnet. Children take on the roles of captains, sailors and explorers, creating their own play scenarios. The narrative form encourages long, engaging activity, and the variety of elements allows children of different ages and abilities to play.

What will you find on board?

This school playground ship is a complete, multi-level structure that combines movement, creativity and integration:

3 slides, including a tube slide at the stern of the ship
Masts with sails, a ship’s wheel, an anchor, portholes and windows
Themed panels: maritime, octopus, compass rose, maze
Climbing ropes, passages, stairs and platforms at various heights
A tunnel and climbing elements developing coordination and strength
Manipulation panels and games at low height (including noughts and crosses, a rotating panel) – also accessible to children with disabilities
A kitchen/shop for role play and integration

A safe adventure for years

Steel playgrounds are a STARMAX speciality. The ship’s construction was made of galvanised, powder-coated steel, complemented by HDPE panels. This combination ensures high durability, resistance to intensive use and weather conditions, as well as aesthetics that look like new for a long time. The set meets the requirements of the EN 1176 standard, making it ideal for public and school playgrounds.

Why does a pirate ship work well at a school?

It naturally encourages movement – without pressure or persuasion
It develops imagination, cooperation and social skills
It integrates children of different ages, including those with special needs
It creates a recognisable landmark for the school, one the pupils are proud of
If you are looking for a themed pirate-ship playground for a school, kindergarten or public space, the project in Banino shows that it is an investment that works from the first day and stays in children’s memories for a long time.
