Cube Wooden – Active Toddler ♿

P5039 Cube Wooden is a two-level play set from the Cube collection, made of glued laminated timber and steel. Rope nets lead to the upper level, including a sloping net, a vertical net and a funnel net for climbing. A slide takes children back down to the ground. The upper level has transparent polycarbonate sheets, through which children can see what is happening inside and outside.

Three educational panels are at ground level: a shop, an abacus, and noughts and crosses. Children can play with them without going up to the upper level, so the set also suits younger children who do not use the upper level yet. This is playground equipment compliant with EN 1176, intended for children aged 3+.

The two-level structure encourages children to climb up the nets and slide back down.

  • Climbing: nets with different layouts call for a different choice of route and holds each time, which strengthens the arms, legs and core and trains movement planning.
  • Balancing: walking across the nets trains balance and spatial orientation.
  • Sliding: the ride down gives joy and teaches how speed feels.
  • Logical thinking and role play: noughts and crosses requires planning moves, the shop lets children take on roles, and the abacus practises counting.
  • Social play: the transparent polycarbonate sheets let children see each other on different levels, which makes playing together easier.

Accessibility

The three educational panels are mounted low, at ground level. This lets children who do not use the upper level play with them: younger children, children with limited mobility, or those who prefer calmer forms of play. The transparent polycarbonate sheets on the upper level make supervision easier for the carer.

We use structural glued laminated pine (BSH), strength class GL24h, manufactured in accordance with EN 14080. The timber is pressure-impregnated throughout 100% of its volume before gluing, use class 4. The impregnation protects the wood against biological decay. This class means the timber is intended for demanding outdoor conditions. The edges of the beams are rounded.

Advantages of glulam over solid timber: fewer deep cracks and sharp edges.

Finish: semi-transparent wood stain or UV-protective oil, which keeps the grain visible.
