Wooden Playground Climbing Frame – Cube on Top

Cube on top is a wooden climbing frame shaped like a cube standing on one of its corners. Each of the six faces is a climbing rope net with a different rope layout. The nets are stretched inside a frame of glued laminated timber beams, which are joined at the corners with steel connectors.

Children can climb the nets on the outside of the cube or go inside it. The open structure lets a supervising adult see children who are inside. This is a playground climbing cube compliant with EN 1176, intended for nurseries, schools and public spaces.

Play Value

A cube set on its corner invites children to climb it from the outside or to go inside it.

  • Climbing: nets with different rope layouts call for a different choice of route and footholds each time, which strengthens the arms, legs and core and trains movement planning.
  • Gripping: holding the ropes works the small muscles of the fingers and hands and trains hand-eye coordination.
  • Courage: the ropes give under a child's weight, and climbing to the upper part of the cube teaches how to cope with mild fear.
  • Social play: several children can play on the cube at the same time.

20 Years of Timber Durability

We use structural glued laminated pine (BSH), strength class GL24h, manufactured in accordance with EN 14080. The timber is pressure-impregnated throughout 100% of its volume before gluing, use class 4. The impregnation protects the wood against biological decay. This class means the timber is intended for demanding outdoor conditions. The edges of the beams are rounded.

Advantages of glulam over solid timber: fewer deep cracks and sharp edges.

Finish: semi-transparent wood stain or UV-protective oil, which keeps the grain visible.
